Solids start?

My son is just over 4 months of age. FOor the last two months he has dropped his 10 o clock feed and only has a bottle at 2 at night...(5 bottles a day) He now for the last week suddenly wakes up at 10 and wants an additional bottle.....should I start him on solids such as a little bit of cereal or is this too soon../ I know books mention a growth spurt however this has been going for the past week....(he weighs more than 7kgs)

You can certainly start with solids now.

Try putting 1 teaspoon of cereal in the milk and give him at 10 o clock, Try that for about 4 days then increase it to 2 spoons. If he drinks that milk without any fuss then put him on cereal at 10o clock. but try it with the milk first.
