Snotty nose

Hi Doc

My son (19m) got a cold about 2 months ago and he of course had a snotty nose. He still has the runny nose. The mucous is mostly yellow/green. It does not smell bad at all. Because of this he has a postnasal drip giving him that rattely sound when he breaths, that goes when he coughs to clear his throat. He has no other symptoms and is eating, sleeping, playing well. He stays at home with me. Is there anything I can do to stop this nose? I am using salex as well.
The other thing is that he wakes up with a bloody nose often. It stops quickly and I cant see any injury. I wondered if the fact that he sleeps on his face, bum in the air might be the reason?
And lastly, this is my 3rd child, so I know babies drool - but he seems to be a drool factory ALL the time. We have to change is bib often and he has drooled non stop since about 6 months of age. I am sure this is normal - would just like to confirm that with you as this did not happen with the other kids.

Thank you

I strongly suspest that the reason for your son's persistent nasal discharge, nose bleeds and also his drooling is due to enlarged and infected adenoids. Please take him to be seen by an ENT specialist. While you wait to get an appointmnent continue using the Salex drops twice aday.
