Q.

Smoking and breastfeeding

My baby is 9 months old and has had bronchitis 4 times, does my 3 ciggarets a day contribute to this or does it have no effect at all? I breastfeed only at night as I'm at work during the day.

Smoking does not cause chest infections in children, but it definitely delays recovery following infection and the irritation it causes makes the airways more susceptible. (Yes, even only 1 cigarette a day is too much - anyone can kick the habit if they truly want to.)
