Smelly discharge out of ears:URGENT

Hi

My 20month old son had grommets put in last year Nov. His ears have being pussing for about 2 weeks now. I took him to a local GP, who put him on antibiotics for infection and I was told that the grommets are doing their job by expelling the puss. It's now being a week of medicine and he's ears are still giving off a smelly puss. Please help! I really don't know what to do anymore!
Thanks

The smell is due to the fluid which is coming out of the grommets. It is obviously infected and the antibiotic given by your GP has not been effective. Keep your son's ears dry by gentle mopping with an ear bud each side at least twice a day. Then use Sofradex ear drops twice daily in each ear.
