Q.

Small fontanel

My daughter has a 4yr old son and a 3 week old son. We noticed that the elder child' s fontanel was quite large when he was born. His finally closed completely at 26mnths. (He is normal and healthy in every way). The 3 week old however has quite a small fontanel in comparison. It measures about 2cm each way. He was born by C-Section and was checked by a peadiatrician at birth and pronounced absolutely fine and normal. Is a small fontanel ok or could it cause problems? His birth weight was 2,8Kg, his head circum 35cm and his lengh 48cm.

Your baby grandson's head circumference is normal and his fontanelle size is also normal, so there is no need for concern.
