sleeping in own bed

Please help, our 4y old son is still sleeping in our bed. How do we get him in his own bed? Tried stories, sleeping with him for a period etc.

It is certainly time that your 4 year old sleeps in his own bed. You have tried all the usual methods, but sleeping with him in his bed will not solve this problem. Tell him that he is a big boy now and big boys sleep in their own beds. He must be in his own bed at bedtime. Read to him and after saying good night leave the room. If he appears at your bed take him back to his bed immediately. Even if this happens several times for the first night or two he will eventually get the message that he is no longer going to sleep in your bed.Do not plead with him to stay in his bed just speak firmly but kindly when necessary.

If its very difficult, a gradual approach might work - put a bed next to yours for a while.

Once that is working well, then let him choose a nice blanket or pillow or teddy or duvet covers etc for his room and make an official move into it. A star chart may work well to incentivise.
