? sleep disorder

My 4 year old grandson wakes several times during the night and his behaviour during the day is often quite disruptive which I am assuming is in part due to sleep deprivation. I have read that this can be due to a shortage of Zinc, could this be the case and if so would a product like Zinplex be of use. Would he first need a blood test to assertain the need for Zinc. How much zinc is toxic and what sort of dosage would be accepteble and over what period. Many thanks Ginny

This is a very good question.Yes, low zinc levels have been blamed for some forms of sleep disorders in children, but so have low iron and vitamin B levels as well. You also may be correct in saying that your grandson's disruptive behaviour during the day may be due to sleep deprivation. You certainly cannot lose by giving him a zinc and vitamin supplement such as Zinplex for a trial period of at least 2 months.
If there is no improvement in his behaviour and sleep pattern then you should consider the possibility that he may have the symptoms of ADHD.Start him him Omega 3 and 6 supplements and seek medical help if his problems continue.
