Q.

Sick child - PLS HELP URGENTLY

My daughter is 4.5 months old and suffers from reflux that she was on anti reflux formula. Presently she has a post nasal drip and a throat infection and paed and ent have prescribed Zyrtec,Otrvin,Inflanaze,Prozef and Losec. On top of this i give her creche guard. The paed also changed her formula to S26 Lactose free to help with mucus. Problem is for the last 2 weeks she will only drink half her bottle and refuses the rest. she is not on solids but paed is not worried and she is not losing weight. SHOULD I BE WORRIED about her not finishing feeds. Should i start her on solids ???? PLEASE HELP !!!!!

The lactose free milk will have absolutely no effect on your baby's mucus, so please put her back on her regular formula. She is on so many medicines it is no wonder that she won't take her feeds. Stop the Inflanase as this will not be of any benefit to her blocked nose. You should stop the Otrivin as well as this may cause a rebound rhinitis in young infants.Complete the Prozef course and start a probiotic immediately which you must use for 10 days;use Reuteri infants drops 1ml daily. Use infant saline nose drops twice a day until her nose clears.
