Should I be concerned or not???

Hi Doc.
Have a 19 month old son. Been to the clinic about a month ago. Nurses indicated that he has not picked up weight for the past 9 months. Advised to go see paediatrician. Paediatrician also states he is a bit underweight but healthy and normal. Dont know what the problem may be as he is a very active child and eats well, veggies, meat, poultry, dairy products, fruit, basically everything that we put in front of him, although he may not eat everything on his plate. Appetite etter than his 4 year old sister on most days. She was also a tiny tot. But both are very healthy, only had a few colds and a cough once or twice, nothing more. Milestones and motorskills are excellent. Should I be concerned or not???

Your son sounds like he is a healthy and happy little boy who eats well.Hemay be a bit underweight but as you have not given me his weight I cannot tell you if there is any need for concern. The average weight for a boy of 19 months is 11kg.He may just be following a family pattern where the men in the family tend to have a slim build.
