Safety of Sterilon

Dear Doc

I have acquired Sterilon in order to sterilise my 10 week old daughter' s NUK dummies. The problem is that the NUK dummies traps some Sterilon solution in the inside of the silicone teat. The product pack says that the dummies should not be rinsed off after removing them from the Sterilon solution.

Will the Sterilon solution trapped inside the teat cause problems - this is sure to be ingested by my baby when she starts sucking on the dummy?

This may sound like a trivial question, but I need to make sure how safe this is? Should I rather stick to sterilising by steam?

Many thanks

Sterilon is chlorhexidine which is often used as a mouth wash in adults.Even so, I am not happy about your baby getting chlorheidine as nothing is known about its safety at this age.Rather continue with your previous sterilising method.Your question is excellent and no question is too trivial for this forum.
