Runny nose getting worse

My 2yr old has had a constant runny nose for months. He also breaks out in multiple spots around the area on his skin where he is bitten by insects like mosquitoes. We did blood test for allergies which came up negative. All regular household and common allergies were tested for, with a negative result. His mucus varies between clear runny and thick yellow, regardless of the medication that he is on. Nasal sprays also do not help. Doctors prescribe antibiotics or allergy meds, and this might work for a day or two, then back to normal. It is affecting his sleep. What else can we test for, or what could this possibly be. He has had grommits about a year ago, which has fallen out recently, and i do not want to have this done again. but I am worried about his eardrum bursting like it did before.

Your son has a persistent runny nose and the mucous is often thick and yellow which means that it is infected. He does not have any allergies. No nasal treatments appeat to help. He most probably has enlarged and infected adenoids which should be removed. This will also help his ears.Your son should be seen by an ENT specialist.
