Running nose, cough

My baby girl is almost 10 months old, she is going to the creche.
since the mid- April up to date - she is been having a running nose and coughs. I took her to the GP whom gave me an antibiotic/cough medicine and illiaden nasalspray. she was better for a while and then it was back to square 1. i then took her to the pead - whom draw blood and noted that she had a viral infection - saying that no antibiotics would help for it, he gave a saline spray for the nose, that huff puff ashma things. its a bit better now, she only coughs minimun twice a day, but if the nose is not running its blocked, i used bennets saline drops in the evening and then also extract the mucous. it seems to help a bit but not completely - i put karvol drops on her pillow - that seems to help but is it dangerous to use for extended periods? the pharmacist also gave me corex for the runnig nose but nothing seems to help.

What is happening here is typical of a baby who attends a Creche especially during our winter months. Your baby daughter is getting one cold after another. These infections are due to virus infections. You need to use a good saline spray at least twice daily to clear your baby's nose. Try using a Sterimar baby nasal spray. Also continue to suck the excess mucous from her nose. Boost her immunity by giving her Creche Guard during the weekdays when she will be at the Creche. Do not give her Corex or any other medicine by mouth to try to clear her nose as most contain pseudo ephedrine which is not permitted for babies under two years. If she does not improve consider taking her out of the Creche and looking after her at home.
