rooibos and rice cerial

Dear doc,

Please advise on the following two questions - i have had so many contradicting answers.

my baby is now ten weeks old - he is quite chubby - weighs about 5.5 kilo's - weighed 2.5 at birth. He is on Nan 1

Can I give him some rooibos tea - he does not like water, and seems constantly hungry - but it seems that he is just thirsty sometimes.

Grandma suggested I mix half a spoon of Purity rice cerial with his milk in his bottle twice a day - one feed at night - to help him sleep through. If I give a feed at 11 o'clock at night he wakes up at 1.30 and again at about 4 o,clock .

He is a strong baby - he can stand on his leggs, and his neck is not "pap" anymore.

He is really doing well. I can see no reason why he can't have some rooibos. He is a little young to start solids. Wait until he is 4 months.

My baby is now 4months, I was just as confused as you. My baby also did not want do drink water or tea. I also started at 10 weeks giving cereal in his bottle, I gave him his normal bottel with two teaspoons of cereal. They love it cause the do not know they getting cereal. She got really fat aswell. The sleeping pattern was also sleeping at 7:30 waking up a 1 and then again at 4. Every nigth was different, sometimes she want to drink at one and sometimes it I put her dummy back in she will sleep further. I would not see it as a problem I think they differ every night. If she wakes up at 3 or 4 I take it as she slept through cause they go to bed very early.

This might not be an anwer you were looking for but al least you can now my baby did the same and I also gave her cereal with her bottle and she was fine. As long as there tummies are full you will have a happy baby.
