Q.

Right Age to Start School

My daughter will be turning 5 in January. Please advise on the right age to send her to Grade R. Some have told me that she will not be ready psychologically to start school at age 5. It is too much for her to cope with.

Please advise. I am now confused. As much as I feel my child is ready to be taking on more, I would not like to cause any emotional problems. She is so keen to learn more. Every evening she wants to write, do basic maths, etc. She actually demands to be taught. She has started writing.

She seems more than ready to start Grade R next year.Grade R is for children aged 5 to 6 years.
