Q.

Rhinitis

Sorry Dr, me AGAIN!
My boy (3.6yr) has got a bad patch of rhinitis again...I had him at the Ped 3days ago...He said that antibiotics isn't needed. His lungs are clean. But sinse then he is coughing, coughing and coughing...But I can hear that the cough is because of all the mucus in the back of his throught. He sometimes can't even speeck because of a mouth full of mucus! This makes him want to fomit. He is on Singulair, Zyrtec and nasonex daily...His fever stays around 38...then I give him some Ponstan...Is this all I can do? The discharge in his nose is thick and white....Isn't there anything else that will help for this huge amount of mucus production? I've got Iliadin and Vibrocil at home....Thanx, again...

This is not an allergy which is causing his present illness but is obviously a very bad cold. You could certainly use the Iliadin twice a day for no longer than 10 days. The cold should clear up in a few days.
