Q.

Reflux

MY ELDEST SON WAS A PROJECTILE VOMITER UP UNTIL THE AGE OF 6-MONTHS. MY SECOND SON IS 7 MONTHS OLD AND STILL BRINGS UP HIS PORRIDGE AND FORMULA AFTER MOST OF HIS FEEDS. THE MORE SOLID FOOD SEEMS TO STAY DOWN FOR LONGER PERIODS. I STILL BURP MY SON, SO I DON'T THINK IT'S WIND. I MENTIONED THIS TO THE CLINIC NURSE WHO CONFIRMED THAT IT COULD CARRY ON TILL 9 MONTHS. SHE WAS NOT CONCERNED AS HE WAS STILL GAINING PLENTY OF WEIGHT (NOW ± 8.5 kg)

SHOULD I CONSULT MY PAED? HE IS STILL GAINING WEIGHT BUT IT IS REALLY UNPLEASANT. I GO THROUGH STAX OF BIBS, CLOTHES, ETC. & I THINK THE LADIES AT THE CRECHE ARE GETTING A BIT IRRITATED WITH THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE MENTIONED THAT MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE IT SEEN TOO.

THANKS!

Your baby is having problems with reflux. Although he is gaining weight well there are other reasons why he needs treatment, so please have him seen by your paediatrician.
