Re: POST 589

You said that she needs about 900ml per day. She doesn''t want any more milk and she is consuming between 600 and 700ml per day. You said she doesn''t need soup but should I be giving her some baby tea to help with fluid intake? I heard you should be careful how much water you give to babies because they can suffer from what is called " water intoxication" . And, tea, is mostly water...unlike milk. I understand that due to the teething, she might not eat as much as usual but how much is the MINIMUM that she absolutely needs at this point? I feel like you know more about what''s going on than my doctor here. Hence, I have more faith in what YOU say than what he has told me. Everything he tells me, I rather investigate a little first. Also, MUST she eat her cereal with a spoon or can I mix it with the bottle for now. I tried with the spoon but she hasn''t learned to move food from front to back yet and she was completely hysterical. Any tips on teaching her to eat from a spoon?

Your baby only needs milk now as her fluid and her nutrition. No soup and no tea or water. She is gaining weight well and is content. She will drink just as much as she needs. Do not mix her cereal in her bottle as this will make her feel full and she will drink less milk.Just feed her with a small spoon, only very small amounts at first. Most babies only start with solids when they are 6 months old so there is no rush and you know that your baby's weight is excellent.
