Q.

Rash around eyes and mouth

Hi, my little girl has a terrible red rash around her face and eyes. I'm not sure what is causing this. She is on S26 Gold 1 and eats most veg, fruit (no citrus), yogurt, cottage cheese, meat, chicken and drinks apple juice and rooibos/camomille tea. Could it be something she is eating?

We do not always know the causes of all rashes, but as long as your child is not ill and the rash dissappears spontaneously it does not warrant further investigation. There are many possible causes, with viral infections and some or other allergic reaction probably highest on the list. If your child is ill or the rash persists then it will require evaluation.

How old is your child & how long has she been on solids?
Is the rash on the cheeks or chin or eyelids etc? Or is it also elsewhere on the body?

This diagnosis cannot be made without a proper consultation.
