Q.

quantity of food

I have just started solids with my 6 month old baby. She weighs about 7kgs. She currently gets 5 bottles of formula a day (I weaned her off breast milk completely about a week ago), of which she usually drinks about 100 - 150ml of each. She is now eating cereal (30ml dry mixed with 60ml formula milk) at her 10am feed. I am going to start introudcing carrots soon.

Question is how much milk should she be getting? and if she gets two solid meals a day (cereal in the am, vegies in the pm), how much cereal / vegies should she have daily? And do I combine a milk feed with a solid feed (i.e. should I be offering her a bottle after the vegies or should I be offering her diluted juice?)

Thanks!

The solids you have introduced are in addition to her formula which should be given about 4 times a day. She should be on a cereal at first with a little vegetables or fruit at the other meal. Gradually introduce her to a wider range of foods. She must always have her milk as well as the morning and evening feeds
