Q.

premmi baby, concerned mom

Hi my baby is 16 months old she was pre term. Her birth weight was 1.6kg. she now weighs about 8kgs. she has reached her milesstones such as crawling at nine months walking at 12 months and she even speaks about ten odd words here and there. I am very worried about her slow or no weight gain. she has being diagnosed with being anemic and i have given her supplements, still no weight gain what must i do? please advise.

She should weigh about 10 kg at this stage, but she was really tiny at birth and you must make allowances for her actual age being much less than her age of 16 months. Her milestones are great and you can be very happy about that. I am sure that she will catch up her weight with time. Is your paediatrician happy with her progress?
