my girlfriend is two weeks late with her period, she went to a clinic to get tested, and they said she had to get a second test done after 72 hours. a dark solid stripe was on the test but a very faint one aswell, what could this mean? were are both still very young and are not ready for a baby, she also does not believe in abortions, is there any other medication that she could take to help avoiding the progress of the pregnacy?

You should probably refer this one to gynaedoc.

Even a faint second line is a positive.

They have probably asked her to do another test, as it is quite common (one in four) that early pregnancies miscarry, and often a woman just thinks that her period is a little early or late, does a second test and its negative.

It is very early days for you guys.

Although one can have safe abortions now, there is life long trauma associated with this. You and your girlfriend should seek counselling together (FAMSA, Marie Stopes or somewhere like that) to discuss your options. Adoption is an option if you are not in a position to keep the baby. Adoption is not like it was in the old days, and you would have some closure on the process and be able to say good bye to baby.

Well done for handling this in such a mature way.

In future, you guys should be using contraceptives - the pill, condoms etc.
