Potty Training

Hi Doc,

I want to start potty training my 2yr old son, please can you give me some advice on the best way to start it.
In just under 2 months his new sibling will be born. Do you think the arrival of his sibling will affect his potty training? Should i rather be starting the potty training after he has got a bit more used to the idea of having a sibling?

Another question i have for the new baby is - I plan on breast feeding but would like to keep a tin of formula incase the breastfeeding doesnt work out and im not too sure which formula would be the best for my newborn, which would you suggest.

My son was on Isomil from 6 weeks but had no allergy to cows milk. Had a allergies like me eczema, sinus.

Many thanks

Please look up previous replies to parents on to how to potty train your 2 year old son. You will find information on our parenting line as well. You can start potty training now and the arrival of his new sibling should not interfere with your son's potty training. Be optimistic about breast feeding and try to exclusively breast feed your new baby for as long as possible. With your history of allergies it would be a good idea to breast feed your baby for at least 6 months. If you canot breast feed for any reason then you can start your new baby on a low allergy formula such as NAN HA.
