postnasal drip &  night coughing

hi Doc

My 15month old has been diagnosed with postnasal drip and was given Celestimine &  a cough syrup to take. It has been a week down the line and she still coughs at night. Is there anything else I could give her?

Please do not give your baby Celestamine which is a powerful cortisone syrup plus an old fashioned antihistamine. It will not help for a post-nasal drip.As her cough is persisting you can see that she is no better after this medicine has been used.In many cases following an upper respiratory infection with a virus there is a temporary period in which a persistent cough occurs due to involvement of the trachea by the infection. A persistent cough occurs which can last for up to 6 weeks. If your baby can sleep despite the cough there is no need to use any other medicines.
