I think this must be the precocious puberty the Paed keeps talking about. Paed, do you have any idea why so many children are entering puberty so early? My child too at 7 had armpit odour and at 8 has peach fuzz hair on the pubes, tho her chest is still flat. But I notice her buttocks have started to protrude in the last year and from looking at the slightly nipped waist, I really can see her teen figure allready. Its a lovely one but I didn''''t want to see it now. Heredity is not to blame as I developed at 14/15 and on her father''''s side they are also late bloomers. Is there just some sort of natural change in evolution we''''re seeing, and why so many girls as opposed to boys? You will notice almost all your qs are from mums of girls. Perhaps you could put up a general link to some info or do a short article for us, as there are so, so many of us mothers who are seeing this. We started puberty so much later than this and are feeling so helpless watching our babies'''' childhood stage ending so early. By the way, once we start seeing this as mums, do you suggest we hurry up with the s*x talk (orginally scheduled for a couple of years hence)

This is an excellent and very important question. You have also set out your concerns so well. You have been very observant about the amount of questions I get on this forum regarding early puberty..and mostly in girls. It has been noticed that almost all over the world but especially in countries with warmer climates that the onset of puberty has been earlier and earlier especially in girls.Puberty onset at 9 or 10 years is no longer even regarded as precocious or unusually early puberty any more. The exact reason for this is not known.
