A post nasal drip usually follows having a blocked nose and is caused by mucous running backwards from the nose into the throat causing coughing in many children -and adults. Your son may have a blocked nose caused by a nasal allergy. He does not need to stop milk. Try using Salex nose drops twice a day to clear his nose. If he does not improve after 10 days please ask your paediatrician to see him.

Every time i try and put my daughter 1 years old onto milk she seems to develop first a blocked nose then a very runny nose , watering eyes followed by intense coughing at night. I then revert back to soya milk. Could this be a post nasal drip as a result of a milk allergy?

try rice or soya milk from WWorths the rice being the better option while not very cheap 20% of kids allergic to cows milk are also allergic to soya. I find the rice milk works well for my 5 and 2 yr old you have to start early and they now used to it. they can still tolerate cheese and yoghurt for their calcium, and they eat brocolli sneaked into stews for calcium. once you stop the cow milk you will notice a relief in post nasal drip and you can also use natural Weleda drops for this purpose.
