Post Nasal Drip

Hello Doc

My 2year old was coughing all of last night!
She has a PND - took her to dr yesterday.

We are giving her Deselex, Zyrtec, and Illiadin for now.
Which helped until 12.
Then I gave her more Illiadin and those Karvol capsules which you cut open and drip on a cloth you put close to them to breathe in....

What else can I give her or do for her to help??

O, and I have Zyrtec at home aswell - which one is better Zyrtec or Deselex?

Thank you for all your advice!!

You do not mention if this is a recent illness or if your little girl's cough has been happening for a long time.Your main aim must be to keep your daughter's nose as clear as possible in order to prevent the post nasal drip from happening. You should not use Iliadin for more than 5 days. The safest treatment to use is a saline nasal spray such as Sterimar for Children nose spray. This should be used at least twice a day. Zyrtec and Deselex are both antihistamines and will only help to prevent the post nasal drip if it is caused by an allergy. Both are very effective in allergic children and only need to be given once daily. You must only use one of these antihistamines at a time so choose the one that you think is helping your daughter best and give the dose at night before she goes to bed.
