Possible Epilepsy

Dear Doc
I need advice...... My 8 month old babygirl has been getting slight spasms which we've noticed for about 2 months. Her upper body contracts for not longer than 2 seconds, and recently we've noticed it became more frequent. She had an EEG scan last week which showed everything was normal, but the paediatrician couldnt understand why she gets these spasms. So when he prescribed Epilim (as a trial), i was very nervous to give it to her in case there really wasnt anything wrong with her. Over the weekend she became very lethargic and was "out of it" of sorts so i decided to discontinue the meds.
What could be the matter with her if the EEG scan showed negative for abnormal brain activity? Could it be behavioural in any way?
Wud appreciate your input

This could be quite normal or it could be due to a condition called infantile spasms. With typical infantile spams the baby usually flings the arms out when the spasms occur and draws up the legs.Your little baby is not doing this. In addition with infantile spasms the EEG shows a very characteristic abnormal pattern called 'Hipsarrhthymia' Your baby's EEG was normal which is very promising from the diagnostic point of view.It is essential to make a proper diagnosis here before embarking on the use of any medicine which may possibly have unwanted side effects.I suggest that you take her to see a paediatric neurologist as soon as possible-there are experts in all the main centres in SA.

Please advise - my 10 month old fall backwards with force sometimes several times a day. I' m concerned since it could be due to pain or frustration or maybe some kind of disorder? She hasn' t started crawling and was on " nestargel"  since she had reflux. I slowly reduced the powder and stopped recently. What bothers me the most is that she should " know"  she' ll get hurt! I put pillow behind her when she sits but the chreche don' t always. She may suffer a head injury! Please advise

Thanks Doc
Another thing, Could those few dosages of Epilim have done any serious damage to her? She still has diarrhoea and vomits as well, we have her on a rehydrating solution at the moment. For the last two weeks she has had a throat and ear infection for which we have been given antibiotics.
