Please help my little boy

Morning doctor

Hope you are doing well on this Monday morning.

My boy was in hospital for a week with flu and then gastro.
He'  s been home for two weeks and we are still struggling to clear up the flu. Finished one set of meds and got other medication from the chemist yesterday.

The problem is little one is sleeping very very badly. He will fall asleep for 10 min and then wake up screaming and crying for the next 30 min. This carries on for the whole night.

He is completely fine during the day - this only happens at night. Could this maybe be "  hospital damage"  (if I can call it that)? Maybe something happened while he was in hospital or he saw something that is bothering him. As I said, he'  s been at home two weeks and should notice that everything is back to normal.

I am really desperate as we cannot function on 2-4 hours sleep a night anymore. What can I do to help my LO feel and sleep better?

He is 11 months on Thursday and he is on Mucospect, Coryx and Adco-Mefenamic Acid (pain and fever).

I really feel sorry for him, but what can I do to help?

Thank you doctor

I presume that your baby son had a recent viral illness. The most likely cause of his wakefulness is a blocked nose now. Use Salex nose drops twice day to clear his nose and give him Panado for pain and fever. Do not give him Coryx or the other medicines.Coryx is no longer recommended for children under 2 years of age as it contains a stimulant called pseudoephedrine that will keep your son awake!
