Please advise

Hi doc,

I would like to know how peads know when its ashma in a toddler?

I have a 21 old little girl i took her to the pead about a week ago and told him my long story of how since creche is always sick with runny nose, cough, goo in eye, fingers in ear, she has had croup and after all the anti biotics and other meds the gp has put her on she has gotten better but has never fully recovered totally before the next cold or sickness starts. He thinks that she has ashma and has her on 2.5ml desalex and a ashma pump for 2 months. Do you think this sounds like it could be ashma? But since he has diagnosed her with this i have been watching her closely and taking a daliy record of her and I have noticed that she does cough really badly after she has been running around alot.

Thanks doc

Astham can be very difficult to diagnose in children under 2 years of age.The main signs are a dry cough at night especially in the early hours of the morning. Another typical symptom is coughing with exercise. It seems that your paediatrician has made the correct diagnosis.
