Q.

One eye cannot handle bright sunlight

Hi there
My son is 30 months old, blonde hair, blue eyes. When we take him to the beach or into a bright area - he raises his hand over his left eye - to block out the light. Is this a common problem with his physical attributes and is there such a thing as a child optometrist or should we merely take him to our optometrist. No-one else in our extended family has complained of this problem.
Cheers Rob

What you describe is not abnormal and I would not be concerned if his eyesight and eyes are otherwise normal.
