Number 2

Please help.
I don''t know what to do anymore. My 4 yr old still makes number 2 in his pants. He will walk past the toilet to a quiet corner and do it in his pants. He will occasionally come to me and say he needs to go, but most of the time not. We have talked to him, trying to find out what the problem is, tried to give him a special reward when he does tell, punishment etc. Even the teacher at creche does not know to do.
What will our next course of action be?

This is a very common problem especially it seems with little boys of his age.Do not mention a single word about toilet training or using the toilet for a full week. After the week is over start all over again. He must have fixed time to sit on the toilet. Use a star chart and tell him that every time he uses the toilet properly he will get a gold star. If he gets 3 gold stars is a row he will get a reward, something small but something that he likes. If he gets 3 stars in a row then the next time he has to get 4 stars, each time adding on one star before he gets a reward. Make a big fuss and praise him if he gets things right and don't criticise him if he has any slip ups.Just be patient and offer lots of support and tell him that he is a big boy now.
