Novalac IT

Hi There, I switched my baby girl 5+ months to novalac IT now for her constipation but its still not better, prune juice dont seem to work she is eating a little bit of maize cereal in the morning spoonful and i introduced pear and apple purity.

Should I stop the solids for now?

Only thing that works is glyserine suppositries and by day 3 I use one as I dont know what else to do.

My paedi did say I must try Laxette but that also dont seem to be working.

Any other ideas?

Your baby is very young and is exceptionally constipated. She has not responded to your efforts to provide a good diet or Novalac IT and Laxette. It is now necessary for her to be seen again by the paediatrician. Ask your paediatrician why none of the usual treatments help your baby. In particular ask your paediatrician if it is possible that your baby has a problem known as 'Hirschsprung's ' Write this name down and take it with you to the paediatrician. Also take all the treatments that you have tried so far to show the paediatrician.

My little had the same problem at 5 months, being constipated and nothing helping. I took him to the paediatrician and it came out that his anus was to small... Just thought to mention it as I thought I was going out of my mind with worry cause nothing worked. Our paediatrician, sent us to a paediatric surgeon and he had to have an op to have it made bigger. From there on we have not had a days problem, so maybe just ask your paediatrician to check that for you. Best of Luck!!
