Q.

Not wanting milk anymore?

My 10 month old baby does not want her forumla millk anymore - she is currently on NAN HA 2. Should I try another formula? She recently had her measels & chicken pox injection and the after-effects caused her to get a stuffy nose and she was battling to drink her bottles. Should I let her settle down for a few days and try again?

The problem is her stuffy nose. Use Salex nose drops twice a day to clear her nose and once clear she will start drinking her formula again.

I wouldn't worry to much... the stuffy nose could actually indicate a bit of a milk intolerance and refusing to drink milk could be her bodies way of saying it's not good for her, so I wouldn’t try fresh cow’s milk if I were you. Maybe try soya milk for a while and if she gets soya milk in with her cereal and maybe a yogurt every now and then, that is way more then she needs. Does she like veggies and fruit? A good drink will be carrot juice; you can make it fresh or buy Just Carrots from AIM. I mix ½ tsp with my baby’s Rooibos tea and she loves it. Aim also stock Barleylife which is wonderful for the whole family. Just ½ tsp spoon a day will make up for the vitamins she doesn't get in the formula. If you take special care in assuring she gets lots of fresh fruit and veggies and a bit of Barleylife and Just Carrots she’ll be fine and seeing as she is almost a year you don’t need to worry about milk intake anymore. Get yourself a copy of Mary Ann Shearer’s book Healthy Kids The Natural way or go to her website and read more about it. www dot Mary-anns dot com

My son was never a good formula drinker and then at 10months he also just refused to drink any formula. So the ped. recommended that I try full cream cows milk and I did and he stll drinks 3 bottles a day at 15months. Check with your Ped.
