Q.

Not eating or Drinking and crying allot

My baby is now five months old and never cries, max 5 min's a day. He always liked his food and his milk, but all of a sudden he doesn't want to drink or eat anymore. Last night he cried for almost 3 hours on and off. He was very tired, but didn't want to go to sleep. At first we thought it was his teeth, because his hand is always in his mouth, he is drooling allot, and his cheeks are red. The only thing is, when he does drink a bottle, he doesn't really wet his nappy that much.Last night he stopped crying when we gave him an ice lolly to suck on - which indicated it is his teeth.
But then why doesn't he ever have a very wet nappy - could it be urine infection?

His nappy is drier than usual because he is not drinking enough-the cause seems to be teething as all the indications are there. Give him something for pain such as Panado infant drops twice a day if he seems to need this and apply Pansoral gel to his gums.

Hi there,

Your LO's gums are sore and that's why he's not keen on eating and drinking. Try rubbing some Vidol on your LO's gums before a feed. If your LO's not drinking then he wont have alot of wet nappies.

Good luck with the teething!
