Not crawling 1 year old

My just turned 1 year old granddaughter stays with met during the day, and some nights when her parents work late. She is still not crawling and I''m being accused of not " teaching" I her to crawl. How do I do that? She absolutly hates lying on her stomach although I ignore her yelling and leave her on it, and sit away from her. She then quitens down and manages to " reverse"  under the furniture, where I have to pull her out because she cannot move forward to get herself out, she knoks her head at the back and then yells again. She has worked out a way of moving around on her bottom with the help of her legs and arms, she reaches anything out of her reach in that way - sometimes 2 -3 m from her. Anyway what I need to know is how to teach her to crwal. I am putting bright noisy toys in front of her whan she is on her stomach and I also lie in front of her and call her. She has never had a walking ring at either home, and also not a " jolly jumper"  because we heard these delay their development and now she''s " slow"  anyway. I don''t know what more to do?

Many children completely skip the crawling stage and simply start walking at about 13 or 14 months. If your granddaughter's other milesones were normal such as sitting at 6 months, there is no need for concern. She seems to slide around on her bottom which is a common way babies move around when they are not crawling in the usual way. You are doing well at encouraging her how to crawl, but it appears that she is just not that interested..

Some kids actually skip crawling altogether. Perhaps she is one of them? My daughter never really crawled, but took her first few steps at 10 months. Does she actively try to pull herself up against furniture?
