My 9 year old son has had a few nose bleeds in the past couples of months. Late last night his nose just started bleeding quite alot while he was sleeping. We managed to stop it after a few minutes. He is a healthy boy and does not show any symptons of illness besides a bit of mucous in the nose? This does concern me though - Should I consult a doctor

Children of this age who have repeated nose bleeds may be bleeding from a group of small blood vessels in the lining of the inside of the nose known as 'Little's area' It would be best to see an ENT specialist as it may be necessary to cauterise this area. Fortunately if it is necessary, this is a minor proceedure and is done at the rooms. As a precaution it would also be a good idea for your son to have a full blood count done as well.Your GP can refer him for this test.
