Q.

Nodules

Mu daughter is 3 years old and she has chronic rhinitis and cough. She has been through variety of cough mixtures, medication that dry the nose but only had temporary relief. My family has a history of allergy and hayfever. She recently had an allergy test and it came back positive for eggs. I also noticed she has multiple noules/ nodes on her neck but they are not painful. The are not big but are noticeable. It was suggested she might have TB but she tested negative. Are these nodules/nodes harmful or are they due to coughing a lot.

I cannot comment without seeing the nodules myself, but it will be important to consider an allergic condition in your child. I would not advise the use of cough mixtures or other medication. The most important thing would be to exclude other possible reasons for the symptoms and to deal with the possible "allergy" according to the severity of the symptoms. It would be best to stay with one doctor/paediatrician who knows your child well.
