Dear Doc,
My son is now 20 months old. He just suddenly refused his formula, even cows milk and I even tried first growth milk. He just drinks his jucie and water. At night I am still b/feeding but I am trying to wean him off. I know calcuim is very important for growing kids, so my question doc is how do i get more calcuim or milk in his liitle body and how much liquids does he need at his age.
thank you

This happens very often. You are still breast feeding your son so he is getting milk. He only needs very little milk now, two cups a day are suffiecient as long as he eats a good mixed diet and drinks adequate amounts of fluid. I presume that he also eats dairy products such as yoghurt and he will get his calcium from these products. You have not given me his weight so I cannot tell you exactly how much fluid he needs per day, but you can work it out for yourself from this formula: 1000ml + 50ml for every kilogram he weighs above 10kg. To give you an example if he weighs 11kg then he needs 1000ml +50ml=1050ml per day.
