No change after antibiotics

My son picked up a cold last week. He had a snotty nose and i took him to the GP. Gp prescribed Prozef and Celestamine. Its been a week and my son's condition is still the same if not worse. He has grommets and the right ear is draining quiet a lot. Is this because he has a cold. What over the counter medicine can i give him. Or should i take him back to the GP.

This is a classic example of antibiotics being prescribed for a viral infection and having no effect-as one would expect. This illness will go over by itself. In the meantime use probiotic drops such as Reuteri for at least 2 weeks. Also use Salex nose drops twice daily until his nose is clear.
