Q.

nervous tics

My mother passed away 7 weeks ago. My daughter that is turning 8 this month, understands the finallity of it all but now I wonder if reality has finally set in or is it something else.
Two weeks after my mom passed my daughter starting developing a shoulder shrugging motion. but in the last week it has now progressed, hand outward movements the eyebrows moving up, eyes rolling upwards and her mouth moving skew. I have looked on the net and seen some very disturbing facts on what she does and it does not look good. I have to still take her to a neurological paediatrician. In your opinion could this be onset by trauma. I have mild OCD and have had it since the beginning of high school. And I have read that this could be genetic. What is my first course of action. So much going on in the last 7 weeks since my mom's passing I dont know if her condition could be due to neglect which I have tried not to do but sometimes the circumstances have led to not spending enough time with the kids

This is not due to neglect but is probably due to the trauma of the loss of her Granny. She has developed habit tics and if you have an OCD problem, these tics may become deeply entrenched and very difficult to stop. The time to take action is now. I suggest that she sees a child psychologist in the first instance.
