Your baby's weight is well above the average for her age. This is why your paediatrician and the GP were not concerned. How often are you feeding her? You must be doing the correct things with your baby's feeding because she is gaining weight well.

Hi Q...

If you work it out with the formule, your baby on her weight needs about 855ml per day. Divide that with the amount of feeds per day and you' ll know plus minus what the size of her bottles should be.

But ladies, I am no doctor or paed, I am just another mom that got the advice from a clinic nurse. I do hope that I am of help though.

Hi First time mom,

The normal way to work out how much milk your baby need per day (according to the clinic sister at M-Kem pharmacy in Bellville) is baby' s kgs times 150ml divided by amount of feeds per day

for example: (7.3kgs *150ml) / 6 feeds per day = 182.5ml per bottle

7.3kgs - which you said is your baby' s current weight
150ml per kilo body mass
6 feeds per day (24hours / 4 hourly feeding)

80ml bottles twice a day sounds waaaaay to little for a 5 month old baby!

Keep the porridge morning and evening.

Good luck, it gets easier!
