Nappy rash/ Diarrhoea

My 14 month old daughter has had diarrheoa for 2 days now. She also has a terrible nappy rash from it and screams when we change her. How long should i leave it untill we take her to the Dr. She is still eating, drinking and quite happy. But every time she eats her tummy runs after! I have been putting a probiotic in her bottle to help. I''m not sure what caused it. Pls advise!

Your baby has a gastro infection probably caused by a virus such as the rotavirus. The probiotic will help her. Also give her frequent sips of Rehidrat solution to replace lost fluid and body salts.Give her a soya formula instead of her usual cows milk formula for 3 to 4 days in case she has a temporary lactose intolerance due to the gastric infection.Do not give her any fruit juice for 3 days.

Bepanthen works wonders than any other cream as it heals the skin inside out.

Use sudocrem for baby''s bottom. Works wonders within a day, personally think it is better than fissan paste.

shame poor little girl.

The probiotic needs to be given two hours away from the antibiotic - so 2 hours after the last dose and 2 hours before the next dose otherwise the antibiotic kills the bacteria in the probiotic.

Fissan Paste (not the bum cream but the little tube) and antipeol are very good for nappy rash. Paint the little bum in the stuff.

For a little while after her tummy has run, let her bottom get some air for a few minutes before you put the nex nappy on.
