Nappy rash


Please can u try and help me. my daughter is 6 mnths old and has a very bad nappy rash. We have tried bepthapane, cavolco, nistacid ointment, Changed the brand of nappies , kept nappy off to dry it and nothing has seemed to work. It looks like it is getting better and then it starts all over again it has also been bleeding. Please if you could sugest something as she is not a very happy girl at the moment. TGhis has been going for 2 weeks now. I have even stopped using wet wipes. Only use a warm facecloth.

This sounds like a rather severe nappy rash especially if bleeding is taking place. Please have your baby's 'serum zinc' level checked. This is a blood test and can be done at any pathology lab.Let me know the result. In the meantime it seems as if you will need to use a dilute cortisone cream to clear this rash. Try Mylocort Cream applied no more than twice day.As soon as the rash is clear stop the Mylocort.Once the zinc level is known I will advise you further.
