Hi Prof.
My little girl has just turned two in Dec. She goes to sleep by 20:15 in evening and wakes around 6. She sleeps through the night (although still in her cot in our room but we are working on that) She sleeps from 12-14h00 at creche in the week and on a weekend from 13:30 until she wakes which is around 16h00 - 16h30. We quite strict re keeping her in her sleep routine and would just like to ask a couple of quetions around this.
1. On a weekend sometimes her cousin (two years and three months) and her mom and dad come visit and braai but they seem to be a bit nonchalant about when their child goes to sleep so she has a higher endurance than mine re sleep. If i dont put her in bed by latest 21h15she will all of a sudden start crying and screaming and i know it is because she desperately needs to go to sleep. I like to get her in bed before this as i feel this is unfair. Most of our friends say this is neurotic and they should be able to play till they go to sleep. What eould your opinion be on two year olds going to sleep at 22h00 Friday and Saterday nights? Wouldnt this catch up with them and make them miserable? They are only two?

Very good question. The answer is actually given by your little girl. She has an excellent and sensible routine and gets over-tired if she stays up beyond her bedtime. She seems to be a model little girl and it would be a great pity to disturb her routine.
