Q.

Room temperatures

My six year old son sleeps in a room with the temperature  between 42c and 48c. What temperatures are considered unsafe for a 6 year old to be subjected to for long periods of time say 8 to 10 hrs. With only a fan.

Normal body temperature is 37 degrees C, so anything in excess of body temperature means that your son will be extremely uncomfortable and may suffer from a serious condition called heat stroke. These are dangerous temperatures (42 to 48 degrees) for your son. A fan is useless in such temperatures and simply recirculates the hot air in the room. He must not sleep in this bedroom and if he is in a place where such temperatures are present, he must sleep in an air conditioned room set at 18 to 20 degrees C
