Q.

Mumps

My 1 year old son went to his cousins Christening on Sunday. However today we found out that one of the children has mumps. How will this affect my son who is having his 1st birthday party on Saturday?

Mumps is fairly easily transmitted, but luckily it is rarely a severe disease. No intervention is suggested at present and the only approach would be to wait and see. The disease usually manifests 2-3weeks after transmission occurred and treatment includes symptomatic relief and observation for any complications, which are rare.
