Q.

Missing son

My almost 18 months old son is now staying with my mother for a month,he was with me all the time but now my job is demanding.I pick him up on fridays and return him again on sundays. He is happy at my mother and she says he is a well behaved little man.But when he is with me,he is so demanding,he wants to be by my side all the time, does not want to take a nap,he gets up at 6 in the morning(by my mother he gets up at 9 in the morning,&  takes a nap of 3 hrs around 2),he wants us to play all sorts of games for the whole day,&  come night time we are both so tired.I' m not complaining cause I think he misses me too much &  I miss him too.People say I have spoiled him cause I let him play with my cellphone &  the TV remote,&  he cries when he does not get his way.But he has discipline in other areas like closing the door behind him, sharing his toys with friends, doesn' t hit other children,he tells me when he made poo-poo,he calls atleast 6 people in my family by their names,he can talk on the phone(baby language)&  he calls me ' mama' . What more can a mother ask for?Am I feeling guilty now that he is at my mother' s?I know I sometimes do but I also know it it the best solution for us. Please help.

Your son seems to be a very clever baby and very well adjusted and happy. I assume that because of your circumstances you have no choice but to let your mother look after him during the week. He seems very happy while he is at your mother's house. Naturally he loves being with you at the weekends and will take full advantage of the time with you. There does not seem to be any real problem with your present arrangement.
