Q.

Milk supplement

Hi Paed

Please advise,my son is 16months and stopped drinking his formula when he was 9months as it was discovered that he is allergic to dairy products, wheat and is lactose intolerant.Howerever,i tried him on Isomil and any other non-lactose formulas but he just don't want it.He likes all the baby foods(allowed)and eats adults foods though choosy he enjoys mashed potatoes a lot.I am concern as i believe that milk is essential for him. Please advise what can i give him as a supplement. He likes yoghurt and has not shown any signs of allergy reaction.Sometimes we give him one for 5days.

Have you tried him on the regular soya milk you can buy in most supermarkets? He seems to be on a good mixed diet, so milk is no longer so essential in his diet as long as he gets enough protein and drinks other fluids. You will need to put him on a calcium supplement-speak to your pharmacist.
