Lump behind ear

Hi. My son is 4 years old. About 2 months ago he had a very bad flu. The paediatrician found that he had a flu with an ear infection, in his right ear, and prescribed some medication which my son took regularly. My son was better for all of a week and then sick again. On visiting the paediatrician, he found that the ear infection had turned into a severe bacterial infection as my son had a high fever and was in discomfort. He prescribed antibiotics which my son took religiously. I was asked to monitor my son and his fever rates which I did and for the last few weeks he seemed to be much better. Yesterday morning I noticed that my son's right eye was inflamed and swollen. But, he did not have a fever or any pain. Last night I noticed that he had a lump behind his ear and it was swollen behind his ear and around his neck. Could you please advise if this is as a result of the ear infection or if something else is going on. My son has been to the doctor so often in the last few months that I am concerned there is an underlying problem that we are missing. Thank you.

You must see your doctor again and ask him if this is a mastoid infection! This is very important.
