Hi Dr
My son (23 months) has Keratosis. I hope I have spelt it correctly? He has a rough red rash/pimples on his cheeks and temples as well as upper arms and I am really battling to clear it up. I feel as though he has had this rash forever and it is not really clearing. I wash his skin with bennets glycerine soap and I alternate between Eucerin, Nutraplus and Physiogel moisturises. My paed suggested Eucerin as it contains urea which helps with the exfoliation but I find it really smells bad so I use it at night only. Should I be sticking to one moisturiser only?
Is there ANYTHING else I can try to clear up this rash?

I also battle to get my little boy to drink liquids. He only drinks rooibos out of his bottle but I try to limit bottles during the day and stick to sippy cups only but he only takes a few sips here and there and can go for hours without asking for anything to drink. I have to offer and then he' ll take a small sip and thats it. I give him water or dilluted apple juice. Could the lack of fluids be the cause of his dry skin condition?
Could is be anything diet related?

Thank you for advise. I really appreciate your time.

Your son's skin condition is not due to dehydration.Hyperkeratosis is often an Enherited tendency. Moisturisers only help to a certain extent. It is probably better to use a moisuriser with urea so eucerin is good to use. You can alternate this with Epimax which is also a very good moisturiser.
